Defenders

Oyez! Oyez! Pray attend! The Shire of Sylvan Glen announces the return of Defenders Tourney.

As the conflict over the possession of “The Sylver Apple” continues to escalate, the populace of Sylvan Glen has sought advice from our elders, who have decided that the Shire should hold a grand tourney as in the days of old to choose our Defenders.
In accordance with that sage advice, the Shire of Sylvan Glen will host a day of competition for heavy and light weapons, also archery and thrown weapons. There will also be competitions in Arts and Sciences (including brewing), and Bardic and Games. We ask that entries in the Arts, Sciences, and Bardic categories have documentation for their entries. Specific forms and rules can be found here.

This event shall be held on June 11, 2011 at the Ruritan Hall in Martinsburg, WV. The Shire member with the highest scores in each contest shall be named the Defender of Sylvan Glen for the upcoming year or until the next Defenders Tournament. Should the gentle with the highest score be a visitor then they will be named The Champion of Sylvan Glen. Besides a belt favor for the Defender and or Champion, the person with the highest score will also be receiving a year’s paid membership.

The site opens at 9 am and closes at 11 pm. There will a lunch day board and pot luck feast at the end of the day. We ask that if you wish to feast with us that you bring a dish that might have been served during our period that can serve 8.

Site fee: $8.00 (includes lunch day board) Children 17 and younger: $4.00 and children 6 and under are guests of the Shire. Please make checks out to the Shire of Sylvan Glen, SCA, Inc. A non-member surcharge of $5.00 will be in effect.

Between 10 AM and 10 PM and the address for pre-reg is, 1598 Sawmill Rd, Hedgesville, WV 25427. Directions:  Make your best way to I-81 Martinsburg exit 13. Exit going West (away from the town) and the site is approximately 3 miles on the left. There is no street address. Look for SCA signs.
